“Please remain standing during takeoff and landing”
Just when we thought budget airlines had made flights as basic as possible – no meals, no seat allocation, no tiny little toothbrush – a private Chinese airline has gone a step further and taken away the seats!
Spring Airlines came up with this novel idea when they couldn’t meet increased demand. Zhang Wuan from Spring Airlines said: “The process of plane making is really long. We already ordered 14 new jets. But some of them will only be delivered next year. And you have to wait for at least five years to lease a plane, and it is also very expensive.”
So what about those constant warnings to ‘remain seated for your own safety’. Well passengers will be given a bar stool with a belt to go around their waist to keep them in place. The plan hasn’t been sent to the aviation regulator yet, but Airbus who build most of their aeroplanes are confident that it will be safe.
