China and Chocolate

Yum! This week there’s been a lot of chocolate related news coming out of China – first Chinese confectioners built a 10 metre long chocolate model of the Great Wall of China. The wall was constructed as part of the World Chocolate Wonderland exhibition which is aimed at promoting chocolate to the Chinese. Other highlights include a 560 strong army of chocolate replicas of the famous terracotta warriors and chocolate waterfalls.

And today models in Shanghai premiered outfits made out of chocolate at the 15th Paris Salon du Chocolat – an exhibition attended by some of the world’s finest chocolatiers. The dresses were built to withstand the high temperatures under the spotlight, but still only last for one wearing!

Suddenly have a craving for chocolate themed travel? Well, pending a visa application, travel to Bejing is an option – the World Chocolate Wonderland exhibition doesn’t kick off until 29th January; search dealchecker for the best-value flights to Beijing.

But there are plenty of alternative chocolaty destinations on our doorstep. Have a look at dealchecker’s flights to Switzerland or flights to Belgium to taste some of the best cocoa Europe has to offer.
