April 7th’s Real Deals Story

After a week conspicuous for the amount of fictional news in the form of April Fools jokes (my personal favourites were Expedia’s Virtual Vacations, toptable’s scratch ‘n’ sniff site, and the first reviews from space on tripadvisor) this week’s Real Deals story focused in on a recent poll about lies:

“Pardon?……you’re breaking up……sorry, I just can’t hear you. I must be going through a tunnel” According to a poll out this week saying you have no mobile phone signal is Britain’s most popular lie. Apparently 1500 little white lies slip out of our lips each year!

So, what’s the Real Deal?

Aside from a lot of excuses for missed phone calls and lateness (I say number 9; “I’m on my way” on almost a daily basis) It seem that most of the 1500 lies we tell each year are to avoid hurting each other’s feelings. But let’s hope that not every utterance of number 10; “No, your bum doesn’t look big in that” is a lie, eh?
You can see the top 50 lies in the Telegraph’s article here.
