Treats for Travel Tips: Sharm el Sheikh

Whilst the dealchecker experts certainly know their stuff when it comes to great value travel, even they can’t know everything. Which is why we’re launching this appeal asking our readers to help us out, simply by sharing your very best travel tips.

For the next week we’ll be focussed on one winter sun hotspot: Sharm el Sheikh. Send over your advice and if we select your tip as one of the best then you’ll be featured on a special blog post on Sharm. And the tip we like most of all will win a special treat: A mask and snorkel set to use on your next visit to the coral reefs of the Red Sea.

How This Works:

1. We pick a destination – So that would be Sharm el Sheikh then

2. You send us your travel tips for Sharm el Sheikh

3. Here’s how to share:

4. Our favourite tips will be shared with the masses in a special blog post, right here on dealchecker

5. We’re giving away a small treat for the tip we like best – a mask and snorkel set.

Don’t limit yourself to just text, we’d also like to see photos, videos… anything from your Sharm trips

The competition is open for two weeks – so make sure you send in the travel tips by 29th November 2011.

The T&C Stuff:
All entrants must be willing to have their submissions used at the discretion of dealchecker for social media and publicity purposes.
Competition open to all UK residents with the exception of employees of dealchecker Ltd, their immediate families, agents or anyone else associated with the administration.
The competition will run from 16th November – midnight 29th November 2011. Entries submitted after this date will not be considered. The winner will be notified in writing. Prize is one Typhoon Adult Silicone Mask & Snorkel set (worth £21) – No cash alternative will be offered.

When visiting Sharm el Sheikh be sure to go on a glass bottom boat. You’ll be able to get up close and see all the amazing coral reefs, exotic fish and other colourful sea creatures. Definite must for all travelers.

If you want to visit Soho Square, they will lay on a bus to pick you
up from your hotel.Ask your hotel reception to phone for you.
This is not usually very well advertised by hotels but it is available
    and certainly worth a visit

If you’re going diving pick a good school, my favourite is Ocean College, (but Red Sea College are good too) great instructors and really good guides all of who speak great english whether you want to learn or you’re an experienced diver.

If you’re a newbee there are some great shallow dives (and it’s not all about depth) for those with a little more experience, get on one of the Tiran boats, from June to September you’ll see hammerheads off the back of Jackson Reef and some amazing coral gardens. If you like a drift dive then there’s Thomas :) Even for non divers this is a nice day out and they can sunbathe and have lunch on board the boats. I know Shark and Yolanda reef is the most popular dive but for me it’s Tiran any day of the week :)

My tip if you like to drink wine…. pick a bottle or two up at the airport and take it with you, the local wine is expensive and slightly minging :)

Deodorise your hands each time you handle the money as this is where most tummy upsets come from

Take a few english pound coins to tip the hotel staff, they love ‘em.Tip at the beginning of your holiday and you will be well looked after.
If you only go on one excursion,go on the sunset quad safari it’s absolutely superb with scenery to die for.
Be prepared for everyone outside your hotel to ASK you for a tip,and be prepared to see a lot of poverty, depending on where you go.

it does not matter what time of year in sharm,do not let your holiday be spoilt by mosqueto “mossi bites” everybody is different, they can be very bad but if u take a good repellant ie “autan” or equivalent u should enjoy your holiday. also use electric plug in insect repellant in your rooms. use immediatley, fed up seeing new arrivals badly bitten first night. £6.00 per person for fortnight garuntees happy holiday.

Just returned from Nabq Bay. Did a half day Quad bike in the dessert with my travelling companion plus a full days trip to the dessert meeting the Bedouins, riding on camels, having lunch cooked by them. Not to be missed if you want a real how the other half live and an real fun experience on the Quad bikes. Our hotel rep,. had a special offer on the Quad Bike experience. We paid for the Bedouin Trip and got a half morning Quad Biking for £1. Yes one english pound. Fantastic. They had other excellent deals going as well.
