All I Want For Christmas is…
We can’t stop talking about Christmas here at dealchecker HQ – if it’s not the Christmas party it’s Secret Santa, Christmas Trees, or just how many of our advent calendar chocolates we’ve already “accidentally” eaten! So I got down to the serious business of asking people their favourite part of the run-up to the big day, and where they would go if they could go anywhere in the world.
Surprisingly, despite each and every one of them loving travel right down to their bones, the overwhelming majority just wanted to stay in the UK, close to friends and family, and of course, where all the parties are. If you want to find out more about the dealchecker team, why not check out our Meet The Dealcheckers page!
Mark was the only one who wanted to head out of the UK – he says he gets that real Christmas feeling when he goes to a proper Christmas Market. And that means Germany, and the one in Regensburg in particular, which is a small and beautiful city near Munich.

It’s all about heading back to her roots for Anna and curling up for Christmas in Derbyshire. This experience wouldn’t be complete without two very important parts – a log fire to doze in front of and copious amounts of chocolate!
Yvonne is a family lady and she gets all excited about preparing the festivities for her kids. She was off the put up her Christmas tree last night – news which has the rest of us quaking in our boots at how totally unprepared we are! And she’s so excited about present shopping too, I think she might be one of the Elves!
For Sam the highlight in the run up to Christmas is her annual Christmas Jumper Party. Ingredients: 15 old friends, gallons of mulled wine, two tons of mince pies, a generous mound of sausage rolls and more than a kilogram of cheese per person all served with home-made chutney on the side.
Andy’s Christmas plans involve friends too, with a trip to the pub on Christmas Eve to meet up with all his old school friends for a really good catch up – and more than a few pints!

And friends are a vital part of Sophie’s favourite event of the festive period too, with a gathering of family and friends – and this event wouldn’t be complete without plenty of home-baked Christmassy treats and mulling their own wine! Very Nigella!
As for me, I love the Christmas lights and Christmas carols – I can’t wait to go and see Carols by Candlelight at the Royal Albert Hall! I can’t say I’m as attached to my UK Christmas Day though, if I had the choice I’d probably head somewhere warmer, like St Lucia. But then again, I’d probably just want to see my family and friends like all the other dealcheckers!
