Half Term at Half the Price
Because your friendly dealcheckers like to help out keeping costs down, and because we know that planning activities for the whole family over half term soon adds up – we’ve checked out a couple of ways of multiplying the activity levels for a fraction of the cost.
Museums

Pick your museum wisely and you’ll be rewarded with a day out that is:
A) Educational
B) Fun – especially if you pick something children friendly with plenty of interactive exhibits
C) Completely FREE
Our top recommendations include: The Manchester Museum for their Unearthed: Ancient Egypt exhibit where you can play at being a 1920s archaeologist. There are plenty of hands on games to play at the Edinburgh Museum of Childhood (and it makes for a nostalgic trip through childhood toys for adults too). London is a Mecca for free kids focussed museums like the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum, which leads me nicely onto my next topic…
Days Out in the Capital

Maybe I’m biased but I know how much gets organised for kids in London – From storytelling and treasure hunts at the Museum of Childhood to the annual Imagine Festival full of kids comedy and theatre at the Southbank Centre, there’s too much to list here. Plus there’s all the usual attractions of the London Zoo, Aquarium and the West End.
Check out sites like kidsfunlondon.co.uk for lots of half term ideas.
Cheap UK Breaks

Don’t want to hang around at home? Well there’s still time to pick up a UK break, and you’ll be well into the late availability offers by now.
Theme Parks

The key to getting a cheap trip to a theme park is planning ahead. You can save as much as 50% on entrance tickets by looking around for deals. A lot of UK theme parks don’t open in time for half term, but those that do will offer some hefty discounts to get you through their gates. Just having a quick look around Drayton Manor is offering 2 for 1 on entrance to Thomas Land. And Chessington are opening up the Zoo and SEALIFE centre for half term. Again you can save money on the entrance fee by booking ahead online.
Lastminute.com can usually be relied upon to have some discounted offers. Or you can get discounted entrance fees along with a cheap hotel if you book through Play & Stay, they’re the official partner for Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Chessington and LEGOLAND Windsor parks.
