Olympics: Focus on Team GB

It’s getting closer! There’s only 36 days until the Olympics kick off, and details of the Opening Ceremony are out! The Olympic Stadium will be turned into an idyllic British countryside – although what happens next is more of a secret. All I know is, I can’t wait!

Whilst Euro 2012 has been dominating sporting minds, there’s been the final rounds of Olympic selections in many of the sports, so here’s all the latest on Team GB. It’s not all sunshine and roses, it seems it’s getting tough out there!

Taekwondo: Cook Snubbed

Aaron Cook is one of the world’s top Taekwondo competitors, but he trains outside Team GBs protective wings, so he’s been overlooked in favour of more home-grown talent.

Diving: Waterfield Injured

There are a host of niggles bugging this man, but will he let it stop him competing in the Olympics on home soil? You bet it won’t!

BMX: Liam Philips Even More Injured

Despite breaking his collarbone just three weeks ago, this tough competitor is determined to fight for gold in London. We wish him luck!

Rowers: Mixed Results

It’s a great time for the women rowers, who are definitely on the up after winning two golds in Munich, at the World Championships. The men didn’t fare so well, facing steep competition from the Aussies.

dealchecker Predicts

We’ve got our eye on a LOT of Team GB medal hopefuls, but we’re liking the look of Tom Daley in the diving, the gymnastics team events for the men and (oh go on then) Andy Murray at the tennis…and we’re saving our Athletics predictions until after the European Championships. Hedging our bets? Us?

Other News

Olympic tickets have been arriving at households all over the country, and we’re pleased to announce you’ll be travelling for FREE for the day! They all come with a Zone 1-9 travelcard, so you can use the buses, tubes and DLR to get to your event!

And finally, the most exciting news of all, the cable car across the Thames is opening next week – running from the Excel Arena to the North Greenwich Arena (that’s the Millennium Dome or the O2 Arena to you and me)! You can even use your Oyster card to make the trip!
