Top 10 UK Water Parks
Come rain or shine (usually rain) UK water parks are fun all summer long! We’ve sniffed out the top ten for you to try – and there are even some indoor ones for you real rain haters. Top tip for all you ladies: sport this season’s top swimwear fashion and wear a one-piece, there’s nothing worse than losing half your bikini. Believe me…it happens.
Wet n Wild, South Shields
Test your nerve with Kamikaze, the UK’s fastest water ride – will you dare to push yourself off the top? And there’s great news on the pricing if you’re on a tight budget. They do evening specials here, with reduced rates for entry from two and a half hours before closing.
Splashdown, Poole
Whether you’re old or young, you’ll find something here. You won’t be able to tear kids from the Buccaneer Zone, but it’s the big rides we’re really interested in. The Screamer has a vertical drop, or you can delve into the dark on Black Thunder. And Baron’s Revenge may be short, but you’ll have to be daring!
Splashdown Quaywest, Paignton
The sister of the Poole park above, this is Britain’s largest water park! Plus you get fab views of the English Riviera from the top of the rides! The Devil’s Drop is a vertical extravaganza, and Wild Kamikaze will see you clinging to the edge of your tyre. When you get tired, you’ll be right by the beach too – bonus!
Waterworld, Stoke on Trent
Perhaps a wise choice in the UK, this water park is inside and that means plenty of tropical weather! Fast flumes, waves, obstacle courses, tropical storms and more are all in store for you here. Plus on Friday nights they do an Aqua disco!
Waterpark Alton Towers
You can choose to visit Alton Towers’ water park, which is separate from the theme park, for an alternative day out. Part indoor and part outdoor, it’s based around a Caribbean lagoon. You can play with water cannons, enjoy the soothing bobbing along the lazy river, or go wild on the Master Blaster water rollercoaster!
Splash Waterworld, Butlins – Minehead, Skegness and Bognor Regis
Combine your holiday with fantastic water park facilities at these Butlins parks (Skegness water park is soon to be upgraded though and will close for the season, so check before you book). There is of course something to please everyone in the family, from soothing lazy rivers and kids splash pools, to fast and fun rides for your thrill seekers.
Sandcastle Water Park, Blackpool
This is the UK’s largest indoor water park, but you don’t get to stay entirely indoors. Plenty of the flumes take you outside, so the building looks pretty crazy! Aztec Falls and Montazooma are two that take off from the top of the building and take you outside to the bottom – don’t worry, they aren’t open to the elements. And Sidewinder is the first indoor vertical drop in the world!
Aquasplash, Hemel Hempstead
Set in the Aztec jungle, you can also go ice-skating here! Race your friends, get sucked into the drop zone of the huge swirling space bowl, or just kick back in the lazy river. There’s also plenty for little ones, and if you’d rather just watch the others have fun – spectator prices are just £1!
Barrier Reef Leisure Pool, Stourbridge
You’ve got it all here – slides, waterfalls, rapids and all sorts of water sprays to keep everyone entertained for hours! This is the Black Country’s first water park, and well worth a visit. You can be sure the kids will sleep well after a day here.
Amazonia Adventure at The Dome, Doncaster
Definitely geared towards a younger crowd, this is a really fun place for parents with less adventurous kids. There are still some water flumes for you speed demons, but the majority of space is given over to less adrenaline-inducing watery attractions. You’ll find geysers and fountains aplenty – as well as air beds to just drift away down the Amazon on.
