How To Dress For A Flight Upgrade
It’s no secret that it’s getting harder and harder to blag a free upgrade these days, but what’s the harm in trying? There are literally hundreds of tips out there on the internet for getting into business or first class and we have to say we’ve not tried all of them, but we are saying that there’s a reason the guy in the flip flops with the weird beard isn’t getting an upgrade!
Because we know that you can try name dropping, asking nicely, checking in early and a whole host of other things, but you won’t get in if you don’t look the part.
Rules for Ladies
It’s not all about wearing smart business wear, smart casual is what people in the money wear to fly in these days. Think elegant but comfortable, more Coco Chanel than Sienna Miller. Try some beautiful trousers, a couple of layers on top and a nice jacket. Make sure your hair is neat and tidy and your makeup is subtle.
Rules for Men

Pink hat and cane optional!

It’s all about channelling your inner cool but casual businessman – think smart shirt and trousers, a light coat and some statement shoes. You could risk the alternative of going rock-star cool, but overdo it and you’ll end up looking like a parody. And there aren’t many of those in the upgraded section!
If that doesn’t work, you could play the long game and join the frequent flier program, or become a lone wolf as we’ve heard that single travellers are most likely to be upgraded.
